My neighbor's old rain barrel trick actually worked better than my new setup
I put in a fancy drip irrigation system last spring for my vegetable beds, cost me about $180 in parts. My neighbor Bill, who's been gardening here for 30 years, kept saying I should just bury some clay pots next to the plants and fill those instead. I laughed it off until July when my tomatoes started wilting even with the timer running twice a day. Turns out the drip lines were evaporating before the water got deep enough, and Bill's ollas keep the soil moist for days. He filled one for me last week and my peppers perked up in 3 days. Has anyone else switched from tech to old school watering methods after seeing the results?
