My city's new compost program seemed like a hassle until I saw the numbers

I was skeptical about the extra bin and sorting, but after 6 months they announced we diverted 40 tons of waste from the landfill. Anyone else have a local program that actually worked better than you expected?

Honestly, I'm still not sold. Our town started a compost pickup and it's a total mess. The bins attract rats and the truck comes at 5am waking everyone up.
