Local solar co-op numbers convinced me to finally get panels

I sat through two years of neighborhood meetings about solar and always figured the math didn't work for our 1920s house with the big oak tree shading the roof. Last month our block association brought in a guy from the county energy office. He showed us actual output records from 14 homes in our zip code, including three with similar tree cover. Turns out the inverter placement and panel tilt matter way more than I thought. Average savings was $86 a month on the utility bill, and with the co-op bulk pricing, payback came in at 6.5 years instead of the 11 I had guessed. I signed up the next week, install happens in March. Has anyone else found that real neighborhood data changed their mind about a project they had written off?

Those co-op numbers made me redo my own math too, turned out I was way off.
