Just crunched my home energy numbers and hit a surprising milestone
My electric bill dropped 42% after swapping out 8 old appliances (including a 1995 fridge in the garage) last quarter, and I honestly didn't expect that kind of jump - has anyone else seen big savings from just tackling the worst energy hogs first?

Huh, 42% feels like one of those numbers you'd see in an infomercial but hey, I guess if you're pulling out a fridge from the Clinton administration it'd make a dent. Still, I'd be curious what the baseline was before, like did you have a space heater running 24/7 or something?

Nah man, 42% is actually a big deal for something that's basically just swapping out an appliance. It's not like they rewired the whole house, so that kind of drop is pretty impressive even if the old fridge was ancient.

I mean, I get what you're saying, but 42% could also mean the old fridge was just comically bad, not that this new one is any kind of miracle. If your baseline is a unit from 1995 that's been running with a busted seal, basically anything modern would look like a hero. So yeah, it's a big drop, but it's more about how low the bar was than how high the new fridge jumps.
