I used to think my old gas mower was fine, but my neighbor changed my mind

He pointed out that my mower from 2015 probably puts out more pollution in an hour than my car does driving 50 miles. I looked it up and he was right, some models can be that bad. So I switched to a manual reel mower for my small yard in Austin. It takes a bit longer, but it's quiet and I get a workout. Has anyone else made a switch like this and found it easier than they thought?

Ever try to use one of those old gas leaf blowers? I borrowed my dad's once and it felt like I was strapping a jet engine to my back, and the fumes were awful lol. I just use a rake now, it's way less hassle than dealing with that noisy thing.

My neighbor's gas blower is loud but it clears his whole yard in ten minutes. Raking takes me over an hour for the same job. That trade-off seems worth the noise sometimes.

That stat about the mower polluting more than a car always seemed a bit over the top to me. Like @bettys51 said, the old gear is loud and stinky, but is it really that big of a deal in the grand scheme? I get the workout part with the reel mower, but most folks just want to get the chore done fast so they can move on with their weekend.
