Got called out for watering at noon...

My neighbor saw me watering my garden at noon in July and told me I was wasting half the water to evaporation. He said early morning or evening is way better because the sun isn't cooking it off. I switched to watering at 6am instead and my water bill dropped by $20 a month. Plus my plants actually look greener now. Has anyone else gotten a simple tip like that that made a big difference for them?

Honestly who cares that much about evaporation, my plants still grow fine when I water whenever.

@park.abby you do you but evaporation matters way more than people give it credit for. Your plants might grow fine, but you're wasting water and nutrients that just float away before they can get used. I used to water the same way until I noticed the lower leaves on my peppers yellowing from uneven watering. If you ever get into succulents or picky plants like ferns, timing really makes the difference between thriving and just surviving.
