Bought a $60 smart plug kit, my AC bill dropped 22 bucks last month

I have a window unit in Phoenix that I run almost nonstop in July. I grabbed a two pack of wifi plugs with energy tracking for about 60 dollars and set the AC to shut off while I'm at work. The app shows the unit used 30% less power, and my bill came in 22 bucks under last month. I'm thinking about adding one to my water heater next. Has anyone else seen real savings from smart plugs or was I just lucky with the heat wave?

That "30% less power" part got me thinking... I once put a timer on my shop's coffee maker and the guys almost mutinied when it cut off mid-brew.
