That $60 parking app saved me from a $220 ticket, then charged me for the pleasure
Downtown last Tuesday, running late for a dentist appointment on 5th. Found a spot by the courthouse, used that mobile parking app. Paid $4.50 for 45 minutes. Dentist ran long, I forgot to extend. Came back expecting a boot or ticket. Nothing. App had auto-renewed me three times without saying a word. Charged me $13.50 total, but the meter maid skipped my block that hour. Worst $9 surprise win I ever had. Anyone else get lucky with these apps or just me?

13.50 isn't a surprise win, that's just you paying for 3x the time you used. The app didn't save you from anything, you got lucky the meter maid skipped 5th that day. Next time that block gets checked you're eating the full 220.
