My old neighborhood corner store turned into a vape shop in 3 years

Remember when that place on 5th sold penny candy and newspapers every morning? Now it's all glass cases and fruit flavors, and I still can't figure out who's buying all that stuff.

Gotta agree with @drew_park on that smell thing. It stuck to your clothes for hours after you left. Can't think of any other place that had quite that specific mix.

My buddy Mike walked in there last week for the first time in like 15 years. He said the smell hit him before he even got past the front door, that same weird mix of old paper and stale bubble gum. He stood there for a minute just breathing it in, said it was like stepping into a time machine. The guy behind the counter even had that same tired look the old owners used to have. Mike said he almost bought a newspaper just to feel normal again, but they didn't even sell them anymore. He texted me later and said it felt like visiting a ghost that was still trying to be alive.
