Just learned my city has over 200 miles of bike lanes I never knew about

I was browsing the city's public works website last night looking for info on trash pickup schedules. Somehow I clicked into a PDF buried in the transportation section that had this whole map of all the bike lanes in our city. Turns out there's over 200 miles of them and I had no idea. I've been driving my car to the grocery store that's like 2 miles away when there's a bike lane literally two blocks from my house the whole time. The map even showed different trail types like painted lanes vs separated paths. Has anyone else found random city data that blew their mind like this?

I started using Google Maps in bike mode last year and it changed everything. It'll route you through those lanes you never knew existed, just pick the bike icon before you hit directions. One thing I'd suggest is checking if your city has a bike map app, some of them even show elevation changes and traffic patterns for the bike lanes. Take a test ride on a Saturday morning with less traffic, that's how I figured out my local routes without getting nervous about cars.

Lol "take a test ride on a Saturday morning" is basically what I do every weekend now because I keep forgetting Google Maps bike mode exists and end up on a highway ramp. I tried it once and it routed me through some sketchy alley I'm pretty sure was just someone's driveway, but hey at least I saved 50 cents on gas that day.
