I finally hit 10,000 steps every day for a whole month straight

I live in downtown Austin and I've always heard people talking about getting 10,000 steps but I never thought I could do it myself. Last month I challenged myself to actually hit that number every single day, and yesterday I checked my Fitbit and realized I did it for a full 30 days. My average was closer to 11,200 because of walking to the bus stop and around the store at work. Has anyone else tried a daily step goal like this and seen a real difference in how they feel?

Wait wait wait, "my average was closer to 11,200"?! That's insane to me. I live in a suburb where you have to drive everywhere so I struggle to even hit 5,000 steps without going on a dedicated walk. I'm genuinely shocked you can average that many without even trying some days. Like my Fitbit would basically be laughing at me if I tried that. That's some serious leg power you got going on.

Honestly, hitting that daily step goal is wild. The_jenny, I feel you on the suburbs thing. I remember last summer I was housesitting for my cousin out in Round Rock and I had to drive like 45 minutes to get to a decent place to walk, plus the sidewalks just end randomly. My steps tanked to like 4,000 a day and I felt so weird and stiff. Then I started doing laps around their backyard while listening to true crime podcasts and it was the weirdest month of my life but I got back up to 8,000 somehow.
