Heads up: getting a replacement key fob from the city office took me 4 hours
My key fob for the downtown parking garage stopped working last Monday morning. I figured I'd swing by city hall on my lunch break and get a new one in 15 minutes tops. First they sent me to the wrong floor, then the right office said I needed a form from the parking department across town. After two more stops and a photocopy of my lease, I finally got a working fob at 4pm. Has anyone else had to deal with that many steps for something so simple?

Yeah @barbara_baker57, I heard someone say city offices add steps just to see if you'll quit.

That whole process sounds like a perfect example of how simple things get blown up into a full day's project by bureaucratic runaround. It reminds me of trying to pay a parking ticket online last month, only to find out the site was "under maintenance" and they only accept cash or a specific type of money order at one window between 2 and 3pm. The steps for everyday stuff just keep multiplying for no good reason, like it's a game to see how many hoops they can make us jump through. Makes you wonder if they actually want people to give up and go away.
