Unpopular opinion: Sticking with traditional masonry tools makes you a REAL sweep.
I remember when a solid set of hand tools and a keen eye were ALL you needed to spot trouble in a flue. These days, guys rely on cameras and sensors that just give a pretty picture without the hands-on KNOW-HOW. I've fixed too many 'cleaned' chimneys where new tech missed thick creosote layers a simple probe would have found. That old school touch STILL matters most for safety and craft.

Back in my town, a fancy thermal scan missed a whole nest last spring. My old brush handle knocked it loose in two minutes flat.

My buddy Carl lost a job because his fancy camera scan said a chimney was clear. The next guy poked around with a basic rod and found a huge creosote plug. Totally proves @henrybutler's point about the old school feel.
