That $90 creosote removal spray was pure snake oil for me

Last month I had a tough buildup in a rental property's flue, and the homeowner swore by this spray that claims to dissolve creosote without scrubbing. Figured I'd test it on a light section before my usual wire work, and honestly it did nothing but make the chimney smell like a chemical factory. Spent 45 minutes waiting for it to work, then had to scrub the same spot anyway with my regular rods and a stiff brush. Cost me $90 for a quart that I'll never use again, and I still had to charge the customer extra for the time. Has anyone actually had success with those enzyme sprays, or is it all marketing? I'll stick to my old method of scraping and just do a second pass when it's cold outside.
