Switched from hand rods to rotary brushes 3 years ago
Used to spend 45 minutes per flue scraping with hand rods on every job. Finally got a rotary kit after a bad day in January 2022 left my shoulder sore for a week. Has anyone else noticed better results with rotary brushes on heavy creosote?

So @angelar57, what rotary brush are you using that actually works?

Rotary brushes absolutely shred heavy creosote way faster.

I mean, "absolutely shred" sounds a bit dramatic don't you think? Creosote is tough for sure, but a rotary brush isn't exactly a magic wand. I had one of those cheap paddle brushes once and it just bounced off the heavy stuff, barely made a dent. And let's be real, if you're dealing with that much buildup you probably need a chemical treatment first anyway. Is it really that much faster than just scraping it by hand?
