I switched from a basic brush to a rotary system for a tricky flue in a 1920s house
For a decade I just used a standard brush and rods, but last month a flue with three offsets had me stuck. I rented a SootMaster rotary head for $75 and cleared it in 20 minutes. Is the extra setup time for power sweeping worth it on every job, or just the tough ones?

Honestly, I only break out my rotary kit for the real puzzles. The setup is a pain for a straight run, so a basic brush is still my go-to most days. It's just the right tool for the right job.

Totally get that. Read a blog post once that called it the "weekend warrior" approach for serious puzzlers.

Reminds me of how people treat their fancy kitchen gadgets. You buy the high end blender for special occasions but still make your daily smoothie with the cheap one. We all have that one tool we save for the "real" work.
