I finally figured out I was brushing the wrong way for years
Had a customer complain about smoke smell after a clean, went back and found soot packed in a crease I always missed. Turns out I was going top-down instead of following the flue's natural curve, threw off my whole angle. Anyone else have a moment where a simple change in technique made that big a difference?

That reminds me of the time I spent a whole summer painting fences for extra cash and kept getting drips no matter how careful I was. Finally an old painter buddy watched me for like two minutes and told me I was dipping too deep and not wiping the brush edge. One tiny tweak and suddenly my lines were clean, felt like an idiot for not figuring it out sooner. Same kind of thing I bet, where you think you know the motion but your body's fighting the wrong habit. Its wild how one angle change can mess with everything until you see it from the right spot.

@danielr94 that "one tiny tweak" part hits hard. Had the same thing with a squeaky garage door, drove me nuts for a month til my neighbor just came over and pointed out a screw I'd been ignoring the whole time.
