Had a rude awakening at a job site in Ohio last week about my vacuum setup

I was cleaning out a massive creosote buildup from a masonry chimney (been burning wet wood for years, ugh) and my shop vac just quit halfway through. My buddy handed me his dust collector with a HEPA filter and I got the whole job done in half the time with zero mess - has anyone else made the switch from a regular vac to something stronger?

Oh nah, it's more about the airflow than just the filter. Dust collectors move way more volume per minute than a shop vac, so they actually pull the heavy stuff up instead of letting it settle in the hose.

Wait did you really need a whole dust collector just for creosote cleanup or was it more about the HEPA filter making the difference? I mean maybe your shop vac just got clogged up early cause creosote is so sticky and fine. Would a smaller but more powerful vac with a good filter have worked or do you think the dust collector's bigger hose and airflow actually pulled the crud faster?

Honestly @ruby_patel27, wasn't the woodstove more of a factor in how fast it caked up?
