Decided between a rotary brush kit and a manual poly-spike whip for a heavy creosote job last Tuesday and I picked the wrong one

Picked the rotary brush because I thought it would save time but that poly-spike whip would have handled that grade 3 buildup way better since my flue was more tar than soot and now I gotta go back tomorrow with the right tool, anyone else made the same mistake with a tough flue?

Man, I swear this is just how life works sometimes... you pick the faster option thinking you're being smart and it ends up taking twice as long. @willow407 that neighbor save is real though, gotta love when someone nearby has the right tool. It's like my dad always said, the shortcut is just the long way in disguise. I've noticed this pattern with everything from choosing appliances to even picking which gas station to stop at... the one that looks quicker always has a line around the building.

Brought my rotary brush to a job like that last month and spent two hours fighting it before giving up and borrowing a neighbor's poly-spike. Felt pretty dumb driving back the next morning with the right tool knowing I could have been done in half the time.
