After three fires this winter, the city's chimney inspection waiver is insane.
This policy change is going to cause more blazes in our community.

Seriously, this waiver is a terrible idea. My friend's landlord used it and their chimney caught fire last week. The fire crew said it was a total mess.

Man, that's scary about your friend's chimney fire, @thea_mitchell20. I mean, I had a close call with a waiver like that last year. What worked for me was hiring a certified inspector to check everything before agreeing to anything. They found some big problems that got fixed right away. Idk, maybe it's just me, but getting that extra look can save a lot of trouble.

Our old place in Denver had a waiver like that. The inspector found cracks in the flue liner we never would've seen. Cost about two hundred bucks for the check, but it kept us from signing a bad lease. Always worth the money to know for sure.

My cousin's rental in Boulder had a waiver and they almost had a chimney fire too. It's crazy how cities think skipping inspections is a good idea. @thea_mitchell20 is totally right, this just invites disaster. Why would anyone think letting people skip a basic safety check is smart?
