My digital probe thermometer gave ghost readings during service last night

The temp showed 165 on the chicken breast but when I pulled it and checked with a backup analog, it was barely 140. Has anyone else had a Thermopop start drifting on them after a year of use?

You ever notice how everything seems to start lying to you right when you need it most? My fridge's temp display showed a steady 38 degrees last month, but I dropped a probe in there and it was actually 50. Same thing with my car thermometer - says 80 outside when it's clearly a humid 90. It's like these digital sensors get lazy after a while and just start guessing. I bet your Thermopop's been giving hints it was off, maybe taking a little longer to settle on a temp or jumping around more than usual. That 165 to 140 swing is scary though, at least with an analog you can see if the needle's bouncing or sticking.

Were you checking the temp right when it beeped or did you let it sit in there for a few seconds? I've noticed mine seems to rush the reading sometimes if the battery's getting low.
