That deli worker in Chicago who refused to sell me a sandwich until I tried the hot giardiniera first
Guy at this corner spot on Western Ave told me the mild stuff was for tourists and shoved a forkful of the hot into my face, and now I can't eat an Italian beef without it - where's your go to spot for that kind of local knowledge?

Why would you want some random deli guy forcing stuff on you like that? I grew up in Chicago and you don't need some guy shoving hot peppers in your face to know what you like. The whole point of a sandwich is picking what you want, not being pressured into some dude's favorite thing. If you want real local knowledge just go to Al's Beef on Taylor Street where they don't mess around with that performance art stuff.

My buddy Mark got talked into ghost pepper relish once and couldn't taste anything for two days.

I mean hey, I once let a guy at a sub shop talk me into "just trying" their house dressing and ended up with a sandwich that tasted like someone melted a candle on it... so I get where you're coming from. But honestly, maybe that's just me being a pushover, like the deli version of a "yes man." But for real, Al's Beef is the spot if you want no-nonsense... I'll take their Italian beef any day over some guy's "signature peppers" he's been bragging about since 1982.
