Just realized that taco truck on 5th Street is charging $9 for a burrito that used to be $6

Read somewhere that beef prices alone jumped like 30% in the last two years, which probably explains part of it. Still stings when you remember what you used to pay though.

Shook my head so hard reading this I nearly gave myself whiplash. I remember when that same burrito was a solid $5 and came with a free bag of chips if you bought two. Now I'm doing mental math every time I pull up to the window, trying to figure out if I can justify paying nine bucks for something that used to feel like a steal. Inflation's hitting my lunch budget harder than it's hitting my 401k.

Gotta push back a little on the $6 number. That taco truck was charging $6.50 at least a year ago, maybe even $7 if you got the one with extra guac. I remember because I stopped going for a bit when they jumped it to $7.50. So the jump from $6 to $9 is a bit of a stretch, but yeah, $9 feels steep either way. Just saying, your memory might be rounding down a bit.
