I thought gas station sushi was a joke until I tried one in Portland last month

I was grabbing snacks at a Shell station near my hotel in Portland and saw this little cooler full of sushi rolls for $5.99. I figured it was gonna taste like rubber and cold rice but I was starving and cheap so I grabbed a spicy tuna one. Honestly it was fresh, the nori was still crispy, and the rice wasn't dry at all. Now I'm wondering if I just got lucky or if gas station sushi is actually a hidden gem sometimes. Has anyone else found a decent roll at a random station?

Gas station sushi is always a gamble though lol. Is it really worth getting hyped over?
