A kid behind the counter changed how I order at fast food places

Last fall I was at a McDonald's in Columbus, Ohio and ordered my usual double cheeseburger with extra pickles. The teenager at the register told me I was wasting money and that the McDouble with added pickles cost a dollar less for basically the same thing. I switched my order after that and now I save about three bucks every time I go there.

Plot twist: the kid was a fast food undercover financial advisor. That's solid money advice coming from someone who probably gets paid minimum wage and knows the menu secrets. Bet he's the same person who knows exactly when the apple pies are fresh out of the fryer. Honestly, this is the kind of insider knowledge you should tip for but you can't because it's McDonald's. Did you at least give him a fist bump as a thank you?

I mean, I get where you're coming from but I see it a little different. A 10 year old doesn't have to be a secret financial advisor to know that spending $50 on snacks is a bad idea. That's just basic common sense that most kids have until adults talk them out of it. The real lesson here is that sometimes the most obvious advice comes from the most unexpected places, not that he's some kind of fast food insider with hidden wisdom. And honestly, tipping at McDonald's is a whole other can of worms that I don't think applies here.
