The hidden cost of buying the biggest bag of rice
I spent years buying those 20 pound bags of rice from the ethnic market thinking I was saving big. Then I noticed we were throwing away about 3 cups of weevils and dust per bag after a few months. Now I buy the smaller 5 pound bags from Aldi for $2.89 and we actually eat all of it. Has anyone else dealt with pantry moths ruining their bulk savings?

Wait, THREE CUPS of weevils and dust per bag? That's insane, I would have lost my mind the first time I saw that. I thought maybe a few bugs here and there but you're basically buying a side of protein with your rice at that point!

Have you ever actually looked at what's in that "dust" though? In my experience, most of it isn't even weevil poop - it's just broken rice grains and tiny bits of husk that got ground up during shipping. The weevils themselves are usually just sitting on top, so if you sift carefully you can scoop out maybe a tablespoon of actual bugs per bag. Still gross, yeah, but three cups sounds like you're counting the powdered rice too. Your mileage may vary, but I'd bet that number is way higher than what most people would actually find.
