Store brand canned tomatoes saved my pasta night in Pittsburgh

I was making dinner at my buddy's place in Pittsburgh last week and realized he only had store brand canned tomatoes in the cabinet. Made a quick sauce with garlic and olive oil and it tasted exactly like the name brand stuff I always buy. Has anyone done a blind taste test between store brand and name brand pantry staples?

Did you try it side by side with the name brand stuff or was this more of a "well I guess it's fine" situation? Because I feel like that's the real test right there, seeing if you can actually pick out a difference when they're right next to each other. I've heard people say the store brand tomatoes are packed at the same plants as the big brands anyway, just with a different label. What brand was it, like a Giant Eagle or a Shop n Save type thing?
