Found a $2 rotisserie chicken hack at the grocery store on 5th street that feeds me 3 dinners
Back when I first started cooking for myself in my early 20s, I was spending way too much on those pre-made meals and honestly just scared of a whole chicken. The problem was I wanted hot food without the work, so I'd grab a $9 cold chicken salad container and call it dinner. Then one night about 2 in the morning I walked past the deli counter at the store near 5th and saw them marking down the leftover rotisserie birds to $2.49. I grabbed two, took them home, and just pulled all the meat off with my hands. That one bird gave me chicken tacos on Tuesday, a chicken rice bowl on Wednesday, and then I boiled the bones in a pot with an onion for soup on Thursday. Now I swing by around 8 or 9 at night and check the little red sticker shelf. Store brand chickens taste the same as the fancy ones to me, honestly. Anyone else know what time their local spot does markdowns, or am I just lucky at this one?
Started doing the same thing after a buddy showed me the sticker shelf at the Kroger near me, and now I grab two birds every Sunday night for like 3 bucks each. Took me a while to figure out my spot marks them down around 7:30, so timing is everything.
