Can we talk about hitting $3.17 for a full dinner and feeling like I cheated the system?
Last Tuesday I made a pot of black bean soup with a bag of dried beans from the Mexican grocery on 5th, an onion, and some cumin, and when I did the math it came out to $3.17 for four bowls. I keep a notebook of every dinner cost and this was the first thing to land under four bucks without rice doing all the heavy lifting. Is there a cheaper way to eat that still feels like an actual meal, or have I peaked?
That "$3.17 for four bowls" is goals, honestly. My go to when I want cheap but still real food is lentil curry with whatever frozen veg is on sale, comes out around $3 for a big pot and it actually sticks with you. Dried beans and lentils are where it's at, rice doesn't even need to show up.
