Vent: My $40 air fryer caught fire making frozen chicken nuggets last Tuesday
After I pulled the smoldering basket out and doused it in the sink, my roommate just said 'told you to buy the one with the automatic shutoff' - has anyone else had a budget appliance nearly burn down their kitchen?

Honestly, @sullivan.finley, I'm not sure it's that deep. An air fryer catching fire is scary for sure, but a roommate saying "told you so" is just bad timing... it's not like they started the fire. People get dramatic over little things like that. Maybe they were just trying to say they warned you about leaving it running too long. Seems like a bigger deal to pick a fight over a stupid comment than to just put out the fire and move on. Life's too short to hold a grudge over a small appliance mistake.

The roommate seriously said "told you so" while the basket was still smoking? That's not just bad timing, that's wild. Like you're standing there with a fire extinguisher in one hand and burnt nuggets in the other and they're hitting you with a victory lap over an appliance choice. My buddy's cheap toaster oven sparked once and his wife just handed him a fire blanket without saying a word. That's how you handle it. Silence is golden when someone's kitchen is on the verge of becoming a crime scene.
