Shoutout to the librarian who showed me a 1923 census record for my street
I found out last Tuesday that my house was built over a pig farm from the 1800s, which explains why my backyard floods every time it rains, has anyone else dug into their property's history and found something weird?

The 1923 census wouldn't mention flooding though, so maybe that's just old drainage problems.

Hold on, are you sure it's a pig farm and not just poor grading? I've seen houses where the original builder just didn't bother with proper drainage. Soil composition matters more than what was there a hundred years ago. Unless you're finding literal pig bones in your yard every spring, it might just be bad luck with the water table.
