The diner in Des Moines puts a full bowl of chili in the cereal aisle and I need to talk about it
Stopped at a place off Highway 69 in Des Moines last Friday for a late breakfast and they do this thing where the cold cereal station and the soup station share the same counter. Same ladle, same bowls, no divider, nothing. I grabbed a bowl of corn flakes and a bowl of chili back to back and the only difference was one was hot. Then I looked at the menu board and they list oatmeal right under the soups like it belongs there. I asked the guy at the register if that was on purpose and he shrugged and said folks order them together all the time. Now I can't stop thinking about it. If oatmeal counts as soup then nobody has a real line, we just pretend. Where do you all draw it, is it temperature or is it whether you chew it?
