Vent: That one stair landing where I had to seam three different carpet pieces
I spent four hours on a single 4x4 foot landing in a house near Pittsburgh because the homeowner wanted a pattern match around a octagonal window, and my seam roller kept catching on the old tack strip I missed, has anyone else had a small area completely wreck their whole day?

Did you end up pulling up the whole landing to redo the tack strip, or did you try to work around it?

Pulling up the whole landing just for tack strip is overkill, you're creating way more work than it's worth. Work around it with a utility knife and some patience, cut the strip out in sections without damaging the subfloor underneath. I've done it on two stair landings now and had zero issues with the carpet staying tight after.
