Vent: Bought a $400 power stretcher that slipped like crazy on day one

Spent good money on a new power stretcher from a big box store, but the gripping pads couldn't hold on a low-pile commercial carpet. Anybody else had luck with aftermarket pads or should I just return it?

Slipping once hardly means the whole stretcher's a dud, does it?
