TIL the carpet in the old Everett library is a masterclass in pattern matching
I took my kid there yesterday to get some books and I could not stop looking at the floor. The main reading room has this huge, complex floral pattern that must be 40 years old. The seams are almost invisible. I mean, you have to get on your hands and knees and really look to find them. The way they lined up the repeat across such a big open space, with all those angles around the columns, is just perfect. It made me think about how much time and care that crew must have put in, back when everything was done by hand with a knee kicker. I've been doing this 15 years and that kind of work still makes me stop and smile. What's the best piece of install work you've ever seen out in the wild?

What kind of floral pattern was it exactly? Like big roses and vines, or something more geometric? I'm trying to picture the layout around those columns.

Could you tell I'm not the best at describing wallpaper?
