The stretch ratio on the dial is not a suggestion

I keep seeing guys on commercial jobs just cranking the dial to max and wondering why their seams open up. Did a school gym in Arlington last month and had to redo 30 feet of seam because someone set their Stretch-Out to 110% on a 60oz carpet.

Man, that's rough. Hate seeing good work get wrecked by someone ignoring the numbers on the dial.

Yeah but see, if the numbers were so important then why did the thing even let you go past them lol. Most of the time those dials are just suggestions anyway, the real limit is way higher than what they print on there. I've pushed stuff way past the redline before and it was fine, sometimes you gotta actually use the equipment for what it can do not what some manual says. Plus if you're always playing it safe you never find out what stuff can really handle. Better to have a story about how you ripped it apart than to just stare at a perfect machine that never did anything cool.
