That job at the old church on Elm Street taught me about pad thickness
Last month I did a 2000 square foot carpet job at a church built in the 1920s. The floor was so uneven that my usual 7/16 inch pad left visible dips in the finished carpet. Had to rip it all out and go with a 1/2 inch high density pad instead. Anyone else run into weird framing that throws off your normal pad choice?

Yeah the framing in those old buildings is always wonky, like they built by eyeballing it.

Git a box of shims and a level, it'll save your sanity. Made my old place feel a lot more solid. Just take your time and work one corner at a time.

Yeah the framing in those old buildings is always wonky" - my buddy had to shim his entire living room floor.
