My grandpa's old kicker still works perfectly in his shop.

That's awesome. I read somewhere that the old ones were built with heavier duty parts, like actual metal gears instead of plastic. They just don't make them to last that long anymore.

My old mixer sounds like it's playing percussion solos with all its plastic parts now.
