Saw a crew in Dallas stretch carpet over concrete with zero pad, is that ever ok?
Was walking a job site in Dallas two weeks ago and saw a crew laying carpet direct over concrete, no pad at all, in a 3,000 sq ft office space. I asked the lead guy and he said the client wanted to save the $0.60 per sq ft and swore it would feel fine. On one hand I get it, commercial glue down over concrete is a real thing and holds up under heavy traffic. On the other hand, every fiber of me says that carpet is gonna feel like a parking lot and wear out twice as fast at the seams. So who is right here, is padless glue down actually a legit method for offices or is this guy cutting corners to win the bid? Would love to hear from anyone who has pulled up carpet like this after 5 years.
