Pro tip: I switched from a standard 10-inch knife to a 12-inch for seams and saw a 40% drop in my seam peaking callbacks over the last eight months.

The extra length just seems to give a cleaner, more consistent cut on the backing, so has anyone else found a specific tool change that fixed a nagging problem?

Yeah, that thing about a cleaner cut from a longer blade makes total sense. I had a similar fix with my hot knife. I was using a basic one and kept getting frayed edges on synthetic turf seams, no matter how careful I was. Switched to a model with way better temp control, and it was like night and day. The material just seals cleanly now instead of melting into a mess. It solved a problem I'd been fighting for months.

My old basic one worked fine for years.
