Kicked my power stretcher across a living room yesterday
I was working a big job in a house on Maple Street in Austin and my power stretcher head just snapped clean off. The bolt sheared right through and the whole thing went flying into a wall. I had to finish the rest of that room with a knee kicker and it took me twice as long. Anyone else had a power stretcher head give out on them like that?

Yeah those cast heads just love snapping mid job.

Man that sucks. I've noticed a pattern with tools like that where the cheap cast metal parts always give out at the worst possible moment, usually on a Friday afternoon. It's like the manufacturers know exactly how long they can make something hold up before you're stuck finishing the job with whatever garbage you can find.

Used to think power stretchers were built tough and a cheap head didnt matter much. But after seeing that bolt give out on a job, I realized the_kevin is right about the cast metal parts being garbage. Its like they engineer those pieces to fail right when you are in the middle of a room and have no backup. Now I always check the head bolts before I start and keep a spare head in my truck just in case. That snapped head cost me hours of time I will never get back.
