I used to think those knee kickers with the plastic heads were junk
For years I stuck with my old metal head kicker, figured the plastic ones would break on the first tough stretch. Then a guy I work with in Tacoma let me borrow his Powerstretch model when my tool bag got stolen from my truck. I had a job with this really thick commercial berber, and the plastic head just grabbed it without tearing the backing. The stretch felt smoother, honestly. I've been using it for about two months now and haven't had a single issue, even on a glue-down job last week. It's lighter too, which helps after a full day. Anyone else make the switch and find the same thing, or did I just get lucky with this one?

Honestly sounds like you just got a good one. Tbh I've seen those plastic heads snap on a regular carpet pad.

Funny you mention the berber, that stuff is brutal on tools. Reminds me of this time my buddy tried to save money and use a harbor freight knockoff on a shag carpet job. The whole head just popped off and shot across the room like a rocket, almost took out a picture window. We laughed for a solid ten minutes before he went to his truck to get a proper one. I bet that Powerstretch is built way different though, the good brands usually are. The weight thing alone makes it worth trying for a busy week. Still, I keep a spare metal head in my van just in case, old habits die hard.
