Hot take: that new stretch release adhesive is a total waste of money
I had a job in Springfield last week where the homeowner insisted on using it for a 12x15 room. The stuff just would not hold the carpet edge down properly, even after letting it set for the full 45 minutes. I ended up having to pull it all up and go back to my regular hot melt seam tape to get a clean finish. Has anyone else had this happen, or did I just get a bad batch?

Honestly, what brand of adhesive was it?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, I used some on a small repair last month and it was fine. Maybe it's just me, but sometimes a product doesn't work perfectly on one job and people write it off forever. Like @tessa_clark74 asked, the brand probably matters a lot. Could be you got a bad batch, or maybe that specific room had a draft or something messing with the set time. I'd try it again on a smaller spot before I totally gave up on it.

Yeah wendy_jackson has a point about people writing stuff off after one try. I see it all the time with tools, people get a bad result once and swear it's junk forever. Sometimes you just gotta check the conditions and give it another shot.
