Hot take: Stretching carpet with a knee kicker is fine for most rooms

I know everyone says use a power stretcher for everything, but last week I did a 12x15 bedroom in Denver with just my knee kicker. The room had walls that were pretty straight, no weird angles. I got the carpet tight with no wrinkles and saved myself 20 minutes of setup time. Has anyone else had good results skipping the power stretcher on simple rooms?

Did you check for any dips in the subfloor first, or just trust it was flat?

Did it on a 14x16 living room last month with zero issues, just checked the subfloor for soft spots first with my knee. Honestly most people overthink this and drag out a power stretcher for rooms where a few extra kicks and a trimmer would work just fine. You already know the trick is keeping even tension across the whole width and not rushing the final stretch near the walls.
