Hit 500 square feet in a single day for the first time yesterday
I always thought the old timers were exaggerating when they talked about laying half a room in 8 hours. But I had a straight warehouse carpet job in Raleigh, no door cuts or pillars, and I just got in a rhythm. By lunch I was at 300 feet and I didn't get bogged down on the seams. Now I get why those guys brag about it - total game changer for how I estimate my daily pace. Anyone else have a number that surprised them once they hit it?

Oh man, congrats! That's a real milestone. I think once you hit that kind of flow state with anything - whether it's laying carpet, writing code, or even just cleaning out the garage - you realize how much of a difference a good setup and no distractions makes. It's like when I'm cooking a big meal and everything just clicks, I can crank out three dishes in the time it usually takes me to do one. That rhythm is real, and it's wild how much more you can do when you're not fighting the job or second-guessing yourself. Once you find that groove, you're basically unstoppable.

@rose_hart Is it weird that the cooking comparison totally lands for me? Because yeah, I've had those kitchen sessions where I'm chopping and stirring and everything just flows, and suddenly there's a full meal on the table in half the time. It's like your brain just knows what comes next before you even think about it. That same thing happens to me when I'm fixing up old furniture, sanding and staining without a single pause. You stop overthinking, stop checking your phone every two minutes, and the work just happens. That rhythm is addictive once you find it, for sure.
