Hit 1000 yards of carpet installed without a single seam failure today

I do a lot of commercial work in strip malls around Columbus, so my jobs are usually wide open rooms. Still, getting to 1000 yards of gluedown carpet without a single seam popping or separating felt like a solid milestone. My helper asked why I was so happy about it and I said cause most guys I know get a call back about a bad seam at least once every 300 yards. I honestly think it's because I switched to a decent seam iron with a narrow throat and I take my time on the pattern match. Have you guys ever tracked a stat like that just to see where you stand?

Honestly, I remember reading a study that said most seam failures happen because guys rush the cooling process on gluedown jobs. Taking your time on the pattern match sounds like the real key though, that's where most guys cut corners. Ngl, hitting 1000 yards without a callback is a solid brag, you earned that one.

Does it ever feel like rushing the little stuff is the root of most screw-ups in any trade, not just flooring? People just want to get paid and move on instead of doing it right the first time.
