Hit 1000 square feet of carpet in one day last Tuesday
Been doing this 8 years and never broke a thousand feet in a single day. Job was a hotel hallway in Phoenix, 12-foot rolls, no doorways to cut around. Anyone else track their daily footage or just me?

12 foot rolls with no doorways is basically cheating. I hit 850 once on a similar hotel job and thought I was hot stuff. You'd have to be moving slow to not clear 1k on that setup. I track my daily footage on a grease stained notepad in my van. Keeps me honest about what I'm actually doing. Good job either way.

Big open hallways with 12 foot rolls sounds like a lot of wasted time dragging the paper out and trimming. I'd rather do a house full of 8 foot cuts with doorways and corners where you're actually moving than stare at a long blank wall all day. Maybe it's just me but I find it way harder to keep a straight line when there's nothing to line up against. You can burn a whole morning cutting and recutting a crooked seam on those long walls.

Oh come on, now. I actually think that kind of setup is way harder than what people give it credit for. You don't have any natural breaks or obstacles to reset your speed, so it's just you and that endless wall. One misjudgment on a corner or a slight curl in the paper and you're fighting it all day. Plus, with nothing to line up against, you're eyeballing every seam and praying it stays straight. I'd take a house full of cuts and doorways any day because at least I can get into a rhythm without worrying about the whole thing falling apart if I sneeze wrong.
