Heard a customer call their new carpet 'the soul of the room' and it stuck with me

I was finishing a glue-down job in a Denver condo yesterday when the homeowner said that to her husband, and it made me realize we're not just laying down fabric, we're setting the whole feel of the space. It changed how I looked at the last seam I was welding, making me focus even more on getting it perfectly flush. Do you guys ever get comments from clients that make you see the job a bit differently?

Tenant-proof armor" is a good one, I'm just out here installing what I call "dog-spill camouflage.

My last job was for a property manager who called the vinyl plank "tenant-proof armor." I mean, idk, that kind of brought me back down to earth. We're installing a surface that has to survive real life, not just look good in a photo. A carpet might be the soul for a week, but then kids and dogs happen. Maybe it's just me, but focusing on the tough, practical side of the install is what actually makes a client happy long-term.

Saw a study where LVP outlasted carpet 5 to 1 in rentals.
