Had to choose between glue-down and stretch-in on a 1,200 sq ft job. Picked glue-down and it got ugly.
Customer wanted stretch-in but the subfloor was old concrete with cracks. I pushed for glue-down saying it'd hold better. Two weeks later the glue let go in three spots near the patio door. Moisture came up through the slab. Should have done a moisture test first or gone with the stretch-in and a better pad. Any of you dealt with concrete slab moisture issues after the carpet was down?

Three spots by the patio door. Man that's rough. I feel for you. Honestly I've seen that exact thing happen on a few jobs where nobody thought to check for moisture wicking up through an old slab. You made the right call pushing for glue down cause stretch in over cracked concrete can be a nightmare too with the tack strips not holding. But that moisture test would've saved you big time. Ngl I bet the glue let go right where the sun hits that door the most too.
