Caught myself stretching carpet wrong for 8 years, a door frame showed me
I've been doing mostly residential for a long time and always stretched from the middle of the room out to the walls. Last week on a job in Akron, I kept getting a ripple near a closet door no matter how much I pulled. Finally an older installer who was helping me on the same house pointed out I should stretch toward the doorway first, since that's where the traffic pulls it loose. Felt like a dummy, but I redid it and the whole floor laid flat in half the time. Anyone else learn a basic step backwards after doing it the tough way for years?
